I had to take the nice pair of rockport boots I found to the cobbler. The left boot fit snugly, but I busted the zipper on the right boot. :-( the cobbler was very annoying, telling me how dumb I am to buy shoes that don’t fit perfectly, but hello, that’s why I brought them to his shop, where there is a sign in the window advertising “stretching of shoes”.

still struggling with this. I wonder if I can have a shoemaker alter the boot so it fits properly….have now tried 4 different pairs from 4 different makers. The jcrew one fits, but I don’t care for the style very much, once it’s on.
Is shopping fun? Sometimes it’s more satisfying to put everything I desire into an online shopping cart and then just not buy any of it. But the perfect black knee-high boots….I unfortunately NEED. I wear them 4 days out of 5 in the winter, so they need to meet certain criteria: comfort: flat only as I need to walk all over the city, weather resistance- water proof; style: is largely in the ‘form follows function’ category, but they should be leather and not some weird synthetic stretchy stuff. Also nix pointy toes. The main obstacle is wider than average calves, which make the zipping up part tricky….
