How I did it: I received a random friend request on myspace from a girl in Germany named Tanja Holzner & we have been talking thru email & myspace for years now. The translations are pretty hard to piece together sometimes, but it has been cool to see how much we are the same even across the world.
Lessons & tips: It helps if you speak the same language....

I live in a small town and love the outdoors. I have three daughters and my oldest is 12 and my youngest us 3. all of them love to copy “mommy” at everything I do. I love to sing in my church and I love to be creative. We have 7 cats ( the Egypt just had her kittens) and we have 4 dogs. I would like to have a pen pal because it is something I miss. I would also like for my daughters to have pen pals as well. I hope this works. My daughters like me would like to have the pen pals that actually write and mail the letters in the snail mail system. There is just something about getting a letter in the mail that is NOT a bill….

Oh, I also think letters would be more exciting than emails… either of them work though.

This seems like such a fantastic goal! I’ve always wanted a pen pal. What are some good, legitimate sites that are (preferably) free?

I’d really love to find a pen pal! I’m 20 years old and live in central London. I’d really like my pen pal to be a girl about the same sort of age, to trade stories with about life and love and well you know to have a ‘sex-and-the-city-style’ gossip with :). So if anyone is interested some one outside of the UK would be perfect!

I just got a reply from World Pen Pals yesterday. I was so amazingly excited it.
The letter included my new four penpals, all girls, all my age. Celeste from Argentina, Aleksandra from Poland, Tanya from Russia, and Comfort from Liberia.
I immediately started on my letters and today I’m printing out some pictures of me and rewriting/editing my letter from yesterday. I want to get them in the mail by this afternoon so they get there as soon as possible.
I can’t wait to get to know these new people and to learn about where they live. I haven’t been excited to learn like this in such a long time…

so I found this one site that seems to be a good program. I “ordered” penpals from europe, africa, asia, and latin america, all females, all around my age. We’re getting the letter in sometimes tomorow so that over the summer, I can correspond with some new people.
