I haven’t seen any skunks around in quite a while. Maybe someone else took care of it, or the skunk found a better place to hang out.

I wrote to them in order to see what they think about putting up an owl house in the woods behind my house. I figure that would keep the skunk away as well as mice and other pests, but I’m not sure if an Owl will live this close to a house.
I thought they went into hibernation this time of year, but I’ve seen tracks in the snow. It could be some other animal but it doesn’t look like a dog to me.
I think I am going to try this in the spring:
I don’t want that skunk getting into my garden and digging my bulbs up. Hopefully this will keep him out.
Last night we went to get my phone out of the car and it smelled like Skunk outside. I’m going to see if the town has an animal control person who deals with that kind of thing.
This Skunk keeps ripping holes in my lawn. It ends up killing the grass and then it moves on to another area of the lawn. It’s definitely happening at night and I have seen a skunk out there, but I haven’t caught it in the act. Besides digging up my lawn it’s a skunk. No one wants to get any of that skunk spray on them.
I’ve heard mothballs keep them away, but suposedly using mothballs outdoors is illegal. Shooting it outside in a residential area seems likely to be illegal as well, and trapping a skunk just seems like a bad idea all around. So I did some research and found that the only natural predator of the skunk (besides me) is the great horned owl.
I’m thinking one of these over the garage roof might do the trick: http://www.carrylitedecoys.com/productDetail.aspx?id=62420
