go to a science fiction convention

Carpooled with friend and friends of friend, arrived in Madison late, late, late last night, checked into a room. This morning, slept in until 9:30 am then figured out how to move to my real room and then went out to successfully forage in the wilderness for coffee, sandwich and croissant. Feel slightly more human now, but still tired.

• the arrival of my dear friends from Syracuse, who are my room mates this weekend
• taking full advantage of the free wireless here (free wireless!! free wireless!!)
• more sleeping later, hopefully
• getting a henna tattoo, massage, reiki and maybe some braids (if they can manage it with my hair so short)
• meeting cool new people amongst the long-haired, tattooed, punk, scruffy, comfy, smart, friendly folks here
• probably encountering other acquaintances from other parts of my life (sometimes, the world is small)
• catching up on Battlestar Galactica episodes online
• going to the haiku earring party
• hearing Maureen McHugh’s talk
• oh, yes, and going to conference sessions to talk about books!

After a library conference, it is only fitting that I immediately go to a SF Con to revel in my dorkdom some more.
