I was on the front cover of Sailing Canada magazine in Nov/Dec 1986.
How to start sailing again
How I did it: taking a sailing course to get back into it, and get to know people at the yacht club, get comfy with the boat again and find crewing opportunities for the future
Lessons & tips: If there is something you want to do, just DO IT. It's taken me a good 6 months or more of thinking about doing this, and it was everything I thought ... and just me. Blows my hair back. Why waste life THINKING about doing things? I need to just DO all my other goals too... if they all make me feel as exhilarated ... nothing else will matter except that.

I last took sailing lessons in 2001. Now I live on the ocean and when I moved here late last summer, I saw many smaller sailboats like Sunfish and Lazers. I want to take some lessons again with my boyfriend this summer.
My goal is to sign up for sailing lessons this summer. If lessons are not available, I will try to sail again when I move to Australia later this year.
richcase is relaxing
I used to sail a laser when i was young. I had an accident and was pulled under when i capsized and had to saved by the rescue boat. I never really sailed a single handed dinghy again.
I really miss it….especially when the boat is really heeled over and you are leaning out as much as you can to stop it going over. Great!
I sold my Meridian 25 when I was in school, and basically haven’t gone sailing since, although it’s one of the loves of my life. I think it’s just time to give myself permission to do some of the stuff I enjoy. Nothing holding me back anymore.
i learned to sail years ago in sydney but havent been for way too long, except a couple of years ago down in southhampton with a friend, it was WILD … big winds, big waves and lots of spray, anyone know a good place to start in the north of england??
