"Irish dancing changed my life for the better. It taught me a lot about myself, about others, and about having a reasonable outlook on life."
How I did it: Lessons in person, as well as watching videos (libraries are wonderful) and reading about dance history. Helen Brennan's book is fab! Practice, lots of practice, and lots of joy and encouragement. You can't dance well if you aren't happy about it.
Lessons & tips:
- Be patient with yourself. It won't happen overnight.
- Start practicing on a regular basis, whether it's for 15 minutes or an hour, weekly or daily. Just let your body get used to it.
- Don't let yourself dance without joy. Ever.
Resources: E. Sullivan School, Mullane Academy, Jean Butler's DVD, and www.diochra.com (my own site). ;)
