ante meridian:
1 Happy Friday roll in the hay
first thing [yay!]
1 cup of Lipton tea with raw sugar.
20 ounces of banana smoothie with
wheat germ, whole milk, honey, and
oh, gee! yoghurt.
2 not-quite-as-snobby-as-my-normal
snobby-endurance-athlete vitamins.
1 demitasse of espresso with a smidgeon
of hot water and a raw sugar.
Oh, crap! Better run to meet LL
for lunch so we can laugh and generally
act goofy. Lamb kebabs hopefully!

petit déjeuner:
café au lait x 2 (we are already regulars here at this bustling little café in the Latin Quarter)
après-midi:
Ladurée for some of the best macarons known to humankind, including an enormous one for lunch that was rose-flavoured, filled with fresh raspberries, and strewn with rose-petals
several bites of a silky omelet filled with what seemed like a million whole morels
a glass of muscadet at Les Deux Magots, at the outermost sidewalk table… across the pond billets-doux and thinking Life is short. Make it sweet.
another macaron, from Pierre Hermé
soir:
shared rumsteak
soupe a l’oignon
soupe aux poissons with rouille and toasted baguette and grated cheese
a demi carafe of bordeaux, shared
frites
a long long walk along the Seine, looking for the Panthéon
we found another little café that sold Berthillon ice-creams, and shared a trio of wondrous sorbets: poire, passion, and abricot
(hard to choose a favourite)
orangina

Hey, WTF?! They put grapes
in their wine, honey!
I try very hard to
make her laugh; It’s
not hard – she laughs
at me often.

petit déjeuner: I think this place is called Café Gay-Lussac
café au lait x 2 (patrons sit at the tables if they have dogs, or at the bar if they do not.. everyone is helpful and wonderfully kind when I ask about food I intend to hunt down during the day)
bread of some merit at Eric Kayser
yogourt d’abricots
après-midi:
these wild caramels made by monks from the south of France… we spent an hour with the charming proprietor of a shop called Le Bonbon au Palais… he let us sample jellies of bergamot and anise, sea-salted caramels, and wonderful pâtes de fruit with cassis liqueur in t’middle
the caramels were of burnt sugar… he instructed us to allow them to melt in the mouth for ten minutes, at which time a secondary kind of caramel, coffee-flavoured, would emerge and blend flavourwise with the first
soir:
we were too late for L’As a Falafel, so we walked to le Petit Bofinger
we both ordered fish soup, soupe aux poissons, rather like a bouillabaisse but clearly not comprised of the correct fish to be labelled a proper bouillabaisse
rouille and butter-toasted baguette slices
grated cheese
(one wipes the baguette with the rouille, sprinkles it with cheese, then drags the bread through the soup. bon!)
eau de vie – framboise
not at all petite salade aux gisiers (kind of a preserved duck gizzard), jambon fumé, confit de canard, et foie gras… with a tangle of frizzled greens, wonderful tomato confit and the lightest vinaigrette possible
plain eau
vin de maison
oh la la

I tend to agree with Peter Rabbit on this one.
I had a gorgeous bowl of freshly picked baby lettuces for lunch today, about 4 cups worth at least, tossed with Pink Lady Apple, Carrot, Blue Cheese and some yogurt dressing. I now need a long sweet nap or a big cup of coffee.
Breakfast smoothie – goji berry, blueberry, kefir, omega 3/6/9 oil
grapefruit, I forgot I ate a grapefruit. They make me think about Venus. :D
I’m craving red meat, so I’m thinking about grilling for dinner, drinking some wine, eating more of those lettuces and sleeping until Saturday comes.
Mahinui, that’s my version of a plate of shredded kale. ;)

but when I’m bad, I’m even bettah. ;)
Yesterday, I raised some nutritional hell, just because I could.
breakfast, a nice healthy smoothie with mango and kefir, Omega 3/6/9 oil and some goji berries.
snack:
liter of water with lemon and an apple
And that’s where the clean stuff stopped, haha
Lunch:
A big bacon cheese burger and chili fries. a large diet coke
Snack:
A liter of water and a grapefruit
Dinner:
Spinach, Ricotta, red onion and mozzarella hand tossed crispy pizza, 3 slices, and an ice cold Hoegaarden on draft with a wedge of lemon.
Dang, now that I read it, I’m disappointed. Its true, I guess now I’ve finally, truly crossed over from the Nutritional Darkside, into the light. My worst nutritional days are still pretty decent. I’ve come a long way since eating entire pints of Ben and Jerry’s after a dinner of Taco Hell.

petit déjeuner:
café au lait, extra lait and two sugars, please
après-midi:
à Angelina’s pour boire beaucoup de chocolat chaud (unquestionably the best and richest drinking chocolate in the world)
une Olympe (un macaron rose, crème violette, gelée framboise, beaucoup de framboises fraiches, violettes, et petits morceaux d’argent) see attached photo – utter sweetness paired with that chocolate, but wretched excess was walked off at the Louvre. Yowza!
brioche grillée
soir: à La Coupole pour diner
verre de champagne (clinque-clinque!)
foie de veau, grillé (normally I would not go near a veau, let alone a foie, but it is the atmosphere of the place that makes one giddy for local specialties – it was very good, too)
timbale of caramelised shallots
tomate grillées aux herbes
hunks of pain Français
a guzzle of orangina
