own a Great Dane

For some reason I didn’t realize Great Danes were mastiffs. Oh well, no biggie.

What’s funny is I don’t like dogs, but there is something in me that says I have to own a Great Dane before I die. I don’t know why, there is just something about the dog that I love. I also have a love, although not as big, for the Pyranian mastiff. I can do without a bull mastiff, however the movie Turner and Hooch just cracked me up!! (yep, Hooch was a bull mastiff).

My ultimate goal is to go to Colorado to the Great Dane rescue and adopt 2 Danes, male and female, and their names will be Marmalade and Marmaduke (Duke and Lady). However, if I adopt 2 older dogs they’ll keep their own names. That’d be like my husband changing my first name once we got married.

It’s been awhile since I looked into the rescue, so I hope they are still open when I get the chance to do this. Unfortunately, right now our house is too small and the back yard isn’t fenced. Due to the economy we could barely feed ourselves let alone a big ol’ dog, so we’ll have to wait just a bit. Ideally I’ll complete my live in the country goal first, then the room issue shouldn’t be a problem.

One step at a time I guess :)

I love Great Danes. They are the coolest dogs. I know where I want to adopt from, all I need now is a bigger home.

THE MEMORIES OF MY TWO GREAT DANES, ZEUS AND CASER ARE SOMETHING I WILL ALWAYS HOLD DEAR TO MY HEART. THERE IS SOMETHING VERY DIFFERNT ABOUT THIS BREED. I KNOW THAT THIS IS NOT REALLY FAIR TO SAY, BUT I HAVE YET TO FEEL SO CLOSE TO ANY ANIMAL AS I DID WITH BOTH OF THESE BEASTS. AND BEASTS THEY WERE. A GREAT BUDDY YOU COULD ALWAYS COUNT ON. LOYAL TILL THE END. AND A KIND OF DEVISIVE INTELLEGENCE THAT IS ALMOST SCARY.
YES, I HOPE TO GET AT LEAST ONE MORE BEFORE MY ALLOTED TIME IS OVER. YOU WILL NEVER SLEEP SO WELL AS YOU WILL IF YOU HAVE A DANE..

If you have the space and time, a great dane can be a WONDERFUL pet. We currently have 3 adults and 4 puppies living with us. They are big babies and give back 110x as much love as you give them!

I have no extra money to care for a great dane right now or the right size of place to keep one! Some day I’ll adopt one :)

I can remember when I was younger, being with my family at the city soccer fields watching my brother play. On the oppisite side of the field was a man with a remarkabley handsome,well trained, robust beast. I ventured over to take a closer look. This dog seemed to be the size of horse (or seemed to be to a 10 year old girl). This magnificant dog was a Great Dane. Still to this day I am enamored with this majetic breed and hope to own one. And when I do get one. I think I’ll name him Henry.

They are the best dogs ever!!
