I can’t believe it! I went to a Rilo Kiley show! While i can’t make it to the N.Y. Rilo Kiley show, i find out theres on in Washington D.C. On saturday morning we wake up late, and head to Maryland, at 12:00. The traffic is crazy. I lose hope, as the clock approaches 6. The show started at 6:30. I didn’t have tickets, and the show was sold out. I get to MD at 5:50. And get the directions, my Dad and I head out. I don’t have any hope. We make some twists and turns, but manage to get there. I see Rilo Kiley’s big tour bus! We start asking if anyone has tickets, after about 10 minutes….Success!! Some pretty girl has one extra ticket, its bliss! I get into the 9:30 Club at 6:45 P.M. Pierre passes by me with his daughter in one hand, no one bothers him. The Brunettes are up first, they’re amazing. I catch a glimpse of Jenny dancing up in the balcony to the Brunettes. They had an amazing array of instruments, and dawn Mary-kate and Ashley masks on their last song. Then Portastic… but everyones really anxious for Rilo. Blake hangs out in the balcony. After a long sound check, they finally come out. I just stood there, and gazed with my mouth open. Jenny is wearing a beautiful orange dress, and a big belt. For their last song they sing, Pete Townshend’s “Let My Love Open the Door with everyone backstage, Mars Black, The Brunettes, and even Conor from Bright Eyes is there. He had played the night before. After the show Jason and Pierre stand outside and chat with fans.
