So far my best goal... 4 years ago

each day I am confronted with choices and this goal is the deciding factor on what I choose. I am driving a lot less…only three times a week. Recycling is going well. I am now beginning to make choices on purchases due to packaging. Baby steps.

Did a good job shrinking the footprint this week. Recycled all the paper, plastic, cans and cardboard that came through the house.
Got my bike in working order and bought a helmet so I can use the car a bit less. Bought organic produce.
This week I plan to find/make some canvas bags to take shopping. I am also trying to phase out many of my cleaning products and use vinegar and baking soda.

    I do not want what I haven't got ... 4 years ago

... ain’t just a Sinead O’Connor album title. Getting rid of what I have would entail a lot of library donations for media and Goodwill trips for clothes. Then I’d have to retrain my brain into not buying things because they seem like good deals.

By “small footprint” – I mean a small ecological footprint. I want to use as few of the worlds resources as possible, whether that be space, oxygen, energy or raw material.

More stuff just makes you’re life more complex. I’ve spent the last year working hard to get rid of the things in my life that don’t work well or are unnecessary, and trying to lower my environmental impact on the world. One bag of clothes, a small box of toys, a laptop computer, skateboard and a sleeping bag – are almost my only possessions.

However – I have to say that upon purchasing a car – this goal has been put on a temporary hold. Haha.
