Today we sat down & read his three favorite books twice in a row each. He was very pleased about it! He can turn the page if you ask him to, and he can point out which bear is the daddy even though if you ask him where HIS mommy is he will not point me out! We had a nice time and he kept leaning over to give me a kiss and bite my leg. 5 years ago

We played upstairs today in this room we set up as a playroom. I envisioned it as a beautiful space (which it was – a big bright room with a window seat) where Alex could peacefully spread out and play. Sadly he has so many toys in there he can hardly move and he is only 9 months old and can’t crawl. Anyway, we pushed the toys out of a nice spot and played there for a long time. We looked at a book with pictures of a giant panda for so long I think I could recognize that panda in a line-up of other pandas. He had a great time and so did I once I was able to switch off my internal “time clock” and enjoy things at his pace! 5 years ago

I tried to really play with him this morning and not be bored at his pace or glance at the laptop or make a call or two while he was playing. I didn’t realize how hectic work was getting until I noticed yesterday that I didn’t remember concentrating on playing for more than a few minutes here and there all day! His nanny is wonderful about playing with him but I know he really wants to play with his mama. He was so excited to have all my attention this morning! I am going to concentrate more on him in the mornings from now on! 5 years ago
