develop an ajax application

First of all, I need to learn Ajax. I will spend some free time in the next few weeks to learn the basics and go through some tutorials. At the same time, I will try to come up with someone I want to build.

I’ve definitely done this. I made a realtime browser-based, multiplayer RPG using AJAX for server communcation (in the exact words of my SourceForge description).

It’s not a great game so far, but it WORKS and that’s what’s so cool! My next release will be much better so keep checking back! And good luck to anyone else learning AJAX, it is a great technology and I’ve got more games planned for the future that will use AJAX for multiplayer aspects!

I’m working on an ajax application right now using Atlas. Can’t wait for the finished product.

I made all my blog commenting, moderating and so on all AJAX powered when I did my Ruby on Rails app. It was a piece of cake to do, and really made my blog shine!

How-to article on AJAX

I imagined an IDE would simplify the learning curve and sure enough dreamweaver came through. With the getting started tutorials and the ide’s tooltips and wizards, I’m able to understand what’s going on more than any previous attempts.

I’m at a point in the tutorials where I’m learning to create a dynamic site. To finish this tutorial I will need to set-up a server. I’m thinking I’ll purchase a hosting service for this. Any suggestions for a good, cheap web hosting service? I’ve heard the name PowWeb thrown around; if no better suggestions come in I’ll go with them.

But before going ahead, I think it’s time I put the thinking cap on an draw-up a few web pages of my own. You know, test all this new knowledge.

I downloaded a copy of dreamweaver today. In the 30 day trial period I’m hoping to work throught the tutorials and create a little playgroud site. From what I see the tutorials should get me started learning.

I’m a fan of the new crop of web applications that seem to be sprouting up daily. Although there is seamingly hundreds of sites out there, it seems that few enhance quality of life. If I’m mistaken tell me. I like and use flickr, del.icio.us, upcoming, digg, et all—using the same user name ‘freality’ as here (check if you’d like).

My issue is that all these apps add to the load of life. I check-in, lurk, and post when time permits, but the dedication it takes to be a full-time member is daunting.

I’d like a web app that takes advantage of the web 2.0 credo of open information and consolidates all the information from these various sources and gives me a concise digest of everything happening in my virtual lil’ world. RSS is okay but it doesn’t combine my interests in a sofisticated way. I’d be presented with a compilation of information based on all my sites formed in a way that something more valuble is achived.

Example: this goal of learning ruby/ajax from 43things coupled with recent webdesign toutorials via digg or blinklist and web group meetings posted on upcoming. What about adding spurl, furl, or delicious bookmarks or inspiring photo from flickr. I think an application like this would be great.

If it currently exists, tell me. If not, I’m working on learning about webdev to remedy this void.
