I learned to play the drums through guitar hero. Now I bought my own set and have played in a couple of corporate events. The great thing about guitar hero is that it is almost like the real drums. Then you just have to learn dynamics when you take up the real drums and you’re all set. Of course, it also helped that I’ve been a musician for quite sometime now.
How to learn drums
How I did it: Learned guitar hero world tour first, then bought Yamaha DD65 and connected it to guitar hero. then bought metallica, then bought double pedal, then learned metallica expert+, then played at a corporate event (practiced DD65 and rented a studio for an hour to practice real drums) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_1qgS3-4y0, then bought Roland TD4 and practiced some more, then played a concert at another corporate event =)
Lessons & tips: start with guitar hero, when you can do around 10-20 songs at expert, start to learn real drums - get someone who can teach dynamics, ie. how to hit the drums so it doesn't sound flimsy and lousy, then practice... and practice some more.

This is the first thing I’m taking up that I don’t hope to get good at :-D
If I improve then fine, but really it is a physical activity to burn some calories, to coordinate my limbs and wake up parts of my brain.
I find I quite enjoy it too!
So, owing to budget, space and noise I just bought a Yamaha DD65 digital kit. This is fine for someone lacking drumming ambition who just wants fun improving some skill just a little :-D

the new world tour drum kit is pretty sweet i think. i know it’s still a game, but as a starting point it’s not too bad. plus, it doesn’t make much noise or anything. when i have more time to focus on this goal, at least i won’t be totally useless.

My plan was to use rockband to improve my coordination, but I only ever seem to play it when friends come over.
there’s an idea floating around that right now, since i make more money than the rest of my family, i should get a drumkit. i well should, it’d only be the practicality issue. my mam would hate it. i should do it anyways. i’d love nothing better to thrash about for a few hours to some really loud music when i’m unhappy.

Similar to my guitar entry, I want to learn drums. I’ve always had a fascination with them.
My parents bought me a drumset used at a flea market. Its a First Act. I would love to play it. I tried messing with it freestyle but I sound horrid. I don’t even know if I have it put together right and I am missing the foot pedal thingy..
