21-25-21-21 max: 16
Set 1: Piece of cake.
Set 2: Harder towards 25, but it got done
Set 3: After waving my cat away, I got it done, even though it was hard! How many more I could’ve done, I’m not sure but I do know I was nervous about Set 4.
Set 4: I needed breaks at #14 and #18…
Max: 16
WAIL!!! I can’t believe I went back in progress. I’m so annoyed and disappointed. Maybe I shouldn’t have done those extra dips on Wednesday because rest is key.
We’ll see what Monday brings…!

Set 1: Easy!
Set 2: Slight tinge at #25, but no problem getting the set done
Set 3: Went ok, though I later noticed how far apart my hands were, which could have made the set easier.
Set 4: Somewhat hard towards the end, but I got it done
Max: #19 was the absolute last I could do
Looking back at my fitness journal on Day 1, the huge progress made me beam ear to ear. After my pushups on Monday, I did a bunch of work on my arms (bicep curls, triceps dips, shoulder raises plus 60 minutes circuit training) – could that have helped this along? Just for good measure, I did some extra triceps dips just in case.
Question – Should I repeat Day 1 until I hit the recommended 32 pushups for the max? I’m afraid I’m a little confused on that is.

This was an awful and discouraging day. My first two sets were fine 29,33. Then I failed on the third set! I’m not sure if I should go back and try day 2 again, or if I’ve been over training lately. I’m feeling completely wiped out and have no motivation. I’m going to stop all exercises until Monday. Then I will retry Day 3. Hopefully I just need some RR to let my body recoup. If I’m not there on Monday I will back it up to Day 2 for another couple of times. Blah :(

So it only took 3 tries to get this one… And it was still a struggle. My sets were 25,29,25,25,36. Everything was good until set 4. At that point I was really feeling tired. Then for the final set I was absolutely dying. By the last 3 my arms were quivering like jelly; there was no way I could have made it past 36 and 36 was the minimum max out, so I barely eeked by.
Usually I would repeat a day like this at least once more so I felt truly up to snuff, but I’m really thinking of just pushing on to Day 3.

SIGH.
I can already tell it’s going to be that kind of week. You know, the kind will need repeating for at minimum of two weeks. This week was so hard, I hope I can make it to week 5 by Christmas.
Maybe it’s because I haven’t been making my max/set 5’s…?
The first set was easy, the second was difficult getting towards 25 but I pushed it out ok. I’m pretty sure #21 in the third set was at my exhaustion point, and in the fourth set I needed a quick second break every other pushup starting #14 til the end. Needless to say, I was so incredibly far from making the max.
Oh well. Challenges make life interesting right? Right!

OMG – I did it!!!! I am in disbelief. I was skeptical when set 1 seemed a little too easy, but it was the 2nd set of 30 that I started to realize that it was becoming the real deal. Set 3 and 4 were more difficult, but they were done without any breaks. This is unbelievable!
Week 4 here we come…

My sets this time were 25,29,25,25,27! This was worse on my final set than last time! I’m not too broken up about this though, I took shorter breaks in between sets this time and I did a full upper body workout yesterday so I don’t think I’ve had enough rest.
This weekend I’m going to do some more ditch work, some cardio for sure, and possibly some leg work. That should give me time to recoup and for Monday so I can finally make the cut for Week 4 Day 2.

I still need a few super short breaks here and there and was getting frustrated about my lack of progress until I looked back on my notes. Sure I still need the breaks, but the need for them appear deeper into the count. It’s a good think I keep detailed notes on how I feel on every set or I wouldn’t see that tiny little improvement!
At this point it looks like I may need to repeat this next week too, but I’ll bust out a few good sets of triceps dips to speed it along.

My sets today were 25, 29, 25, 25, 32. I couldn’t quite make it to that 36 minimum for the last set! Week 4 has been really discouraging for me, but I am determined to keep at this until I make the hundred! So I guess Friday will be Day 2 again :( This is the longest week for me by far…

So today I Week 4 Day 1 again. Sets were as follows 21, 25, 21, 21, 37. I followed that up with an extra set of 10 standard push ups. Then 2 sets of knee push ups (60, 30). For a total of 135 standard push ups and 90 knee push ups!
