Annemaart got sunburned at Oerol

Quay 1 week ago

A wharf or reinforced bank where ships are loaded or unloaded.

Try asking bus drivers for Circular Quay in Sydney when you don’t know to pronounce it. I was a good form of entertainment. Just spell it ‘Key’ then, if that’s what you want to hear… Geez…

Queue 1 week ago

A line of waiting people or vehicles.

What a fantastic vowely way to spell a word which you could also spell with a single consonant (Q).

Scooch - 1 month ago

1. To hunch or draw oneself up and move (through, down, etc.); scrunch.

2. To slide as with short, jerky movements.

Just a funny word. And how did this word evolve over time? I’m glad our ancestors had senses of humor.

there are so many reasons to love this word… it sounds like a note of music, it has a golden colour that changes in the light, it has a sleekness that sticks to you, it’s sweet, it’s quiet, it’s subtle, it’s friendly like Pooh Bear.

Amethyst 5 months ago

amethyst (noun)

[ME amatist, ametist,fr OF & L; OF amatiste, ametiste fr. L amethystus, fr Gk amethystos not drunk, not intoxicating, (so considered), fr. a- + methystos drunk, fr. methy wine]

1. a clear purple or bluish violet variety of crystallized quartz, used as a jeweller’s stone.

I like the sound of this word, and the color of amethyst. When I looked up the derivation of amethyst, I was surprised to find the source of the word.
