    Hoodoos 1 month ago

Maybe it’s because I grew up around them, have memories of scaling red dirt cliffs and gazing at dry valleys filled with them, but hoodoos are nostalgic; feel hot, feel lonesome, feel aweinspiring. Maybe this feeling of awe is also why the Blackfoot and Cree “believed them to be petrified giants who come alive at night to hurl rocks at intruders.”http://www.traveldrumheller.com/hoodoos.html

    Caboodle 1 month ago

caboodle – bunch: any collection in its entirety; “she bought the whole caboodle”. Caboodle is essentially a nonsense word, and is perhaps a contraction or rhyme of “kit and boodle”.

Love the sound of it :)

    Quay 4 months ago

A wharf or reinforced bank where ships are loaded or unloaded.

Try asking bus drivers for Circular Quay in Sydney when you don’t know to pronounce it. I was a good form of entertainment. Just spell it ‘Key’ then, if that’s what you want to hear… Geez…

    Queue 4 months ago

A line of waiting people or vehicles.

What a fantastic vowely way to spell a word which you could also spell with a single consonant (Q).

    Scooch - 5 months ago

    1. To hunch or draw oneself up and move (through, down, etc.); scrunch.

    2. To slide as with short, jerky movements.

Just a funny word. And how did this word evolve over time? I’m glad our ancestors had senses of humor.

    Honey 7 months ago

there are so many reasons to love this word… it sounds like a note of music, it has a golden colour that changes in the light, it has a sleekness that sticks to you, it’s sweet, it’s quiet, it’s subtle, it’s friendly like Pooh Bear.

A narrow crack or opening; a fissure or cleft.

    keksi:
