My mom is super talented. She knits, crochets, and sews, in addition to a whole bunch of other crafty abilities. I want to be like my mom. She used to make my halloween costumes, she makes me afghans, she fixes all of my broken things, and is generally really handy to have around. She is not however getting any younger and I fear that someday she is not going to be around and I am not going to have any of the awesome talents that she possesses. While I am capable of several things like jewelry making, baking, scrapbooking and cross stitching I am super excited to learn the things that my mom is so good at. So I am hoping that she will be able to teach me so that I can in turn pass the skills down to my children.

Ayleesha Looking forward to Punta Canta, my brother getting married!
...which is French for Blouse. Hehe. Blouse in French sounds like Blues or Blooze.
I started about 2 weeks ago. We took our measurments, cut out and rectified the pattern. I bought my fabric last Tuesday (April 11, 2006). It’s not great looking but it’ll do for my first Blouse. It’s denim but a weird kinda blue. Who knows, it might turn out ok.

It’s not perfect but it’s my first one and I’m proud of it! :)
There’s a lot of hard work into it. Sometimes I was ready to pull my hair out. The teacher said I picked a fabric that was hard to work with. It was too thin. I was trying to pick a more natural fabric that looked nice and that was made for summer and looked summer-like.
The last class is this Tuesday (March 28, 2006) and then the next course (the Blouse) is the week after. Ooooh, I can’t wait!
I’ll take a picture of it when it’s done and post it on here.

I’ll be starting the second sewing course called Jupe (French for skirt). We will learn to do a skirt. I hope I’m not too rusty, my last course, “Introduction to Sewing” was back in March 2005. I had wanted to take it in September 2005 but had no money. This time I had said that I was going to wait also but they told me I could do payments (like 26$ every course) and I was like: “Yeah, ok, I’ll do that, I’m taking the course”. I’m mean I gotta take it some time and I shoudn’t wait too long, I forget easily and fast. Now that I have a sewing machine (a gift from my mom’s boyfriend), I’ll be able to practice all day after the course. That’s another great thing about this class, it’s at 9 AM, so I have all day to practice (If I’m not working after the class). Before it used to be at 5 PM and by the time I’d get home (by bus) it’d be like 9 PM almost 9:30.

I remember the first time I wanted to learn how to knit. I was in my teens and I saw a commercial, an elderly woman was knitting something, then, when she was done, she drop it off at a hospital. She was knitting baby clothes for newborns and I thought that was the most incredible thing and I was like “Wow, I want to do that”. Unfortunatelly, I did not know how to go about learn how to knit, nor did I have the money and so I never learned. But that’s all about to change. :D

... think of it as an art and focus more on the end result instead of the process, and you’ll probably find it more satisfying… if you have questions about process, feel free to contact me =)

I have already taken one sewing course (Introduction to sewing-12 classes) which ended last March 2005. I had wanted to take a course for so long put I keep putting it off. Then I learn a friend of mine was starting a sewing course and I was like “Really? I’ve been meaning take a sewing course!” and she was like “Why don’t you sign up for it and we could take the course together? and so I did and I was so glad I finally did it. I am not an expert but I am going to take the 2nd course which will start in September 2005. I could have taken the course back in April 2005 but did not have the money just yet, which is another thing on my list, save money! :) ~ Later comes the crocheting and knitting.
