find out what "that" is and why Meatloaf won't do it for love

What is Meatloaf singing about? Has anyone ever asked him?
Is it something dirty?
Like anal sex?
I don’t get it.

I personally believe after a few beers and jello shots that “that” is more of a poetic version of not wanting to turn his new found love into the vampire creature that he is. Much like Edward in the epic film and books he loves his woman very much but will not turn her into the monster that he considers himself. He WILL do ANYTHING for love but sir, he will not do THAT!

(it’s in the lyrics). I will admit, however, that it’s grammatically incorrect for what it’s supposed to mean. That was just the songwriter being a jerk because “it sounds better”. “And I won’t do that” would probably be more appropriate.

I love Meatloaf. This song is beautiful.
And all you have to do to figure out “that” is listen to the words. Easy!

There is the Lyrics in the first few lines:

Then This Bit:

I figured out my problem in getting my head around this was that he isnt actually saying he wont do XXX for love, he’s just saying he wont do it. He wont lie or be a jerk, but he’d do anything for Love…

If you listen to the lyrics, when the chick says “sooner or later you’ll be screwing around” and he says “I wont do that”.

The only thing that makes me think thats not it, is that why would you do that 4 love?? You get roses for love, not a mistress…

I will prevail… Unless this is one of those rock mysteries like Carly Simons Your So Vein, where people can speculate but no one knows who its really about…
