And is one of many things from them that I’d like to unlearn. Acute drunkenness seems an unsatisfactory method; it’s temporary, unreliable, and not very healthy. And I’m told I snore too loudly when drunk.
But I wonder whether or not loss of control can be self-willed. I suppose that if you know which ‘buttons’ to press on yourself, you can work yourself up to a frenzy or down to a stupor, from which your body will recover with time. Chemical buzzes, especially from our bodies’ own chemicals, are subject to feedback loops that re-establish normal levels. These aren’t the sorts of control loss that I’m after. I want something sustainable, a permanent altered state. And one that doesn’t require the personality bypass operations offered by NLP-types of therapy.
Have any of you had any luck with this goal?
