When I was younger, I always wanted to go in my front yard and catch butterflies. I used to catch them in my hands (making sure not to hurt or crush them) and put them either in a bug cage or in a jar with hold in the lid.
I never actually kept the things. I’d let them go within 5 minutes of catching them if I didn’t let them out when I caught them. They are so beautiful.
I haven’t done it in years though, hence the reason I want to do it again.
If you catch a lighning bug it’ll die. Where I grew up in Texas lightning bugs don’t exist anymore but when I went to Arkansas a few weeks ago I just sat and watched the backyard light up. It was fun.
