Living in Sydney was an amazing experience for me. It is a fabulous city, and there is SO much to do there. Any chance you get to visit or live in Sydney will be some of the best time well spent.

I really wnat to do this so when i turn 18, im getting on a plane and going there!!
I am from Sydney.. therefore I strongly support living in Sydney!!
Best city in the world, bitches!!!
I’ve had this on my list for more than a year…and with a few visits last year, I think I’ve had my fill for a little while. I will probably start a new more focus goal of Tour Australia with my Band.
Ultimately, I think I would like to have a summer condo in Manly and spent December-February there each year. I’m probably more than a decade away from accomplishing that goal.
I lived in Sydney from 2002-2005…my hubby is Australian, so I’m sure that we’ll move back again at some point. I lived in Bondi Beach, about a 2 minute walk from the water. I made 3 of the best friends of my entire life….miss them lots. Sydney is a fabulous place – even though I wanted to move back to the US because I missed my family (dragging hubby back with me…he so nicely agreed), I miss living in such a spectacular place. I’m going back for a 3 week visit in Dec/Jan.
That’s what the card that came with complimentary bottle of wine and cheese came with at the Sheraton here in Sydney. I’ve been here twelve days, and today I’m headed on the 14 hour flight back to the USA.
It’s been a wonderful trip in many ways. I’ve been able to catch up with many old friends while enjoying the Sydney summer. The highlight of this trip was sailing on the harbour. I did a lot of work, and trained up a new guy, which means I probably won’t be back for a while. I spent a lot of time at various pubs… hanging out with the guys, checking out the music scene, had lots of great food, but it’s time to go home now.
I’ll miss Sydney, but on this trip in particular, I got my dose of Australia for a while. Next time I’d like to come back with the band and be a bit more of a tourist.
I know I’ll be back.
its a great city to live in…it tooks me about three weeks to get use to the change from the states…it also depends where you live..the northernside is more exspensive but so much better i must say…
There is a possibility I’ll get to go down in November for 10 days or so. I’ll know more later this week.
The sales manager down there would really love to have me living down there. I think my boss would probably agree to a short term assignment (for a few months), but my wife probably would not agree to it. Who knows what could materialize…
I lived in Sydney for nearly four years, and had an incredible experience there as an American. I had a child there, and was constantly welcomed by the Aussies’ good nature and hospitality. Although I was working there, I felt like I was on a four year working holiday living right off Manly beach (Sydney). I really felt valued… and in many ways, I feel like I “matured” there as a human being, both personally and professionally.
I was fortunete enough to get to travel extensively around Australia for work, as well build life long friendship with many Aussies. My dream is to one day live an endless summer spending Nov.-March in Sydney, and April-October in California!
For those of you that are interested in going long term, the best and easiest way is to have a company sponsor you. You will need an Ausralian Immigration attorney help you get set up….It’s relatively easy for a big multinational company to do (Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, etc.), although smaller company can do it too. The fees ended up costing my company about $5k AUD, but it help them build a skill set in the region that continues to make money for them. There are other ways as well, such as qualifying based on jobs that are in demand there or educational merrit (have a B.A.). Once you are there you can put in an application for permanent residency. I didn’t do it, and now I’m back in California wishing I did!
