Ok so, I’m new around here – but I thought it would be a good idea to put my goals down in writing, I seem to commit a whole lot better to an idea if everyone else is in on it too!
Im trying to give up smoking for the second time in 16 years. Earlier attempt was new years eve, 2009. I gave up for 2.5 months cold turkey, yes – it was awful for those around me, i was moody, grumpy, sometimes even nasty – but I did it and was proud of myself. One day the world came crumbling down around me (or so I thought!) and it just seemed so natural to hold a smoke up to my mouth and calm everything down :/ about 3 hours later I was due to fly out to Sydney AU for a weekend away with the boys – and that was it, i was a full time smoker again… I’m back to a packet a day.
Im over it now – its horrible ,I stink and I’m unfit again – I undid all the hard work I had done in just a couple of months by taking up smoking again.
Now I’m back at the point where I dislike myself for being a smoker, it costs too much, my partner is a non smoker, its antisocial etc etc etc (im sure you know all the reasons!)
I’ve started on Champix, and im into day 11 as I type this. The cigarettes taste absolutely foul, i cant stand them – but I think my body still wants the nicotine. I’m down to about 5 – 6 a day which is amazing. My quit date is tomorrow, which also happens to be my 27th birthday – so out the door goes the smoking one more time. This time for good!
I’ll keep you all updated as to the progress – this might be a hard road once more!

I’m putting this off as I’ve got a lot to get done and with all the other changes going on I figure it’s best to go one step at a time. Life’s having a major overhaul as it is and I’ll be mad if I fail – so I’m prepping myself for this one.
I’m figuring the healthy diet, more exercise and more balanced lifestyle will make giving up the dreaded weed a lot easier.

I Started smoking during my college days…now its close to 8 Years …I smoke close to half a pack nowadays …Thinking its high time I stopped this. My plan is to keep it under 5 cigs for the next two weeks and gradually give that up….

....there’s no point in saying otherwise.
But dropping dead early I’m not so keen.
I really do think cutting back first for me is the right way – I’ve seen all the arguments both ways but I know me best.
Part of me – in fact mose of me – struggles to believe I can even cut back. If I can do that and improve my confidence I can take it further.
5 a day is the aim – but when to start?

I think in all honesty that my smoking is the only thing keeping me from at least attempting a lot of my goals =/ So I really want to try giving it up. My biggest problem, in my opinion, is that i forget I want to quit ROFL how crazy is that?? Maybe this site will help with that.

Okay so i have started by mentally preparing myself, i really am not that bad with my smoking, i used to smoke alot but cut down by 1/2 when i was suffering with an anxiety disorder. But slowly but surley i find myself creeping back up. The problem now is, is that i can only smoke when i drink so my drinking has increased so i can smoke. Silly considering i have health anxiety aswell.
SO! I brought the book that i have been intending to buy for months about giving up smoking and i really beleive it will work – i think i may read it on Sunday so i can live it up for the rest of this week.
