This was a great read; it is definitely worth your time. Since creating this as a goal I also went to the RoR training from Dave Thomas and David Black. That was an excellent way to learn more about RoR and is worth your time.
Ironically, these days I’ve since moved to a new job and am focusing most of my time on .NET.

I’m not clear on what this is, and I haven’t set out to do this. Anyway, this goal is taking up space on my list.

I have had the first edition of this book for about 18 months now and I’ve taken it up again now that I can actually understand some of the concepts. The second edition is out now so some of the things won’t apply but most of the urls are still valid. It’s only when you start to try out some of the exercises that you realise how amazing Rails really is.

Rails is really interesting to me, but I haven’t dedicated the time to going through this book and actually learning and doing.
I’m actively pursuing programming in Ruby, but Rails isn’t that pertinent to what I’d like to be able to do.
I gave the book away on bookmooch.com

Such a nice book to read, very informative, nicely written. Now off to the Pick-Axe!

I’ve read almost a half of the 1st edition when I found that the 2nd edition has been published. And I found that much of the 2nd edition has been rewritten, which makes me consider whether to read them again. However, the reason I start to read the book is that I want to get ready for my new job, and therefore, there is no more time for me to reread the old chapters. In the end, I make my decision, go on reading the old edition, and make it clear that I’ll come to the new edition someday.

Ditch the first edition as it’s out of date

Best book I’ve ever read. Great way to learn the RoR framework.
