Dad insisted that if I wanted a car of my own that I learn to drive stick. I did, and he got me my first car: a silver 1985 Duster. I miss that car…

way more fun than an automatic car, you have total control of your vehicle

I’m trying to sell my old car. This really crappy pontiac sunfire with a black hood :(. And in it’s place I’m trying to buy a VW Bug in its place but I want an old one. So in order to get one i def need to learn to drive a stick shift.

i love driving stick! i wanna buy a VW beetle with manual trans. the first day i learned, i killed the engine at least 20 times. three days later, i knew exactly what i was doing. its worth it, although driving downtown or in heavy traffic is a pain in the ass

I’ll never drive an automatic transmission car ever again. It’s tough at first, I probably stalled 15 times just getting out of the driveway, but once you get the hang of it, it’s not so bad. It’s actually kinda fun!

when my car broke down and I had to borrow someone’s car that wasn’t an automatic. I actually stalled out on an interstate. But after the weeks it took to fix my car, I got kinda good at it. Even now, years later, I still find myself driving with my hand on the shifter, as though ready to shift gears, and my left foot resting in the place the clutch would be.

I think my next car will be a manual transmission, except that I drive in the city a lot, so it might be one of the auto/manual weird hybrid thingies…

my mom made me actually take my drivers test in one and my first car was a stick shift. I am grateful and 10 eh 15 years later I still have a stick shift. She said if I were ever out “partying” with my friends and they were drinking and I needed to get them home or myself someone safe then I would be able to do it.

When I was about 15 I overheard a guy (who would eventually become my husband, though of course I didn’t know that at the time!) being asked the question, “So, would you be more likely to be interested in a girl if she knew how to drive a stick shift?” He answered, “Definitely.” I decided then and there I would learn how to drive a stick shift! I learned, and my first car was a manual transmission. And now we are married! ;) (Obviously that wasn’t the reason we got married …. but still… worth doing! ;) )

so aggravating at first… I thought I would never get it right. It took me months before I felt comfortable, but now I am good at it and proud of myself.
