How I did it: My buddy invited me to spend a week on a house boat on Lake Powell. One of the best weeks of my life. That was a lot of partying. Read how I did it…

i am in love with wakeboarding now.
its finally something athletic that i am good at and am not afraid to take a risk.
We rented a wake board a few times but it got so expensive and i wanted to go so often we finally bought one this last saturday and i have gone everyday since. It so much fun to improve everyday. I am trying to jump both wakes but its hard to get enough air. My first face plant when we rented was the worst (i guess i didnt expect it) But now i am so used to falling i just get right back up.
Now i hope to learn a trick before the summer ends…

I went water skiing for the first time and also tried wakeboarding while I was at it.
I have to say, wakeboarding is a lot harder to stand up when the boat starts moving, and I think it’s harder on your body, especially your back muscles.
I think I like water skiing much better~!

Although it was cable wakeboarding, which is also a lot of fun, but hard! I spent more time in the water than I did on my board, and I still ache like hell, have a bruised chin and a messed up knee, but it was totally worth it! tons of fun
Well… I managed to get up my first time out – but I was only able to stay that way for about 20 seconds. Quite a few wipeouts. I pretty much got owned by the water. This is a picture of one of my bruises. When I let go of the handle on a particularly good wipeout, it came back and whipped me.
wow! i had sooo much fun! i got up the first try, thanks to some good instruction by a pro (he does crazy back flips and all)!
i look forward to staying up longer next time!
Ah finally I thought about something else I can add to my 43 Things. Perfect thing to add in the middle of winter. I so want to go wakeboarding. I love water skiing, it is so much fun. Sucks because I don’t get to go very often. And I can’t slalom. My uncle always said when he was trying to teach us how to ski “you have to have the ‘I want to’s.’” Believe me I wanted to get up on one ski, but that didn’t help me much. Maybe if I’d actually ever start working out again I’d be strong enough. I was thinking now maybe I should add slalom to my list too, but nah this’ll be just another one of those multi faceted goals. Playing tug of war against a boat while you’re bobbing up in down in the water, and having a ton of it rush over your head isn’t fun. But man I so want to fly.
And I do on two skis. That’s why I want to wakeboard so bad. I hear that most people can get up their first time on a wakeboard. I can usually get up on two skis now just like I can stand up. I jump the wake like crazy on two skis. My idea is I don’t want to be a wuss like some people and just throw the rope in and let myself sink when I get tired. Though I wonder what it feels like to sink that way sometimes. If I go I’m wiping out. Skiing is one thing I won’t admit I’m tired and just quit at. Kinda like soccer when you are so exhausted but then all of a sudden the ball is at your feet, and you just get that rush and go. Legs screaming, back aching, let me just hit that wake one more time, harder, faster. And when I do it and I don’t wipeout it amazes me.
So that said I want to see what I can do on a wakeboard. I know I won’t be doing any flips or things like that anytime soon. But I bet I could jump both wakes after I got used to it a little. And I rode the disk the first time I tried it. Think really thin, light, round wooden board, and no straps for your feet. Made it 360° on that thing. This summer I’m doing it. I’m going wakeboarding.
