    Almost there! 2 weeks ago

I had forgotten for many years that I’ve always wanted to be able to do a head/handstand. Then we tried inversion poses in yoga class yesterday, and my passion was rekindled! After several very uneventful tries, I have finally mastered the tripod version of the headstand, with knees on elbows—also called a frog stand, maybe?? Anyway, I love it! I’m very proud already, but would still love to be able to extend my legs up and do a full-on headstand. New goal! =) Also, I’ve posted a picture of the version that I CAN do now… yay!

Attempt Number One 11 months ago

I am not kicking hard enough. Or, alternatively, I don’t have enough strength in my stomach muscles to just pull myself up slowly and hold myself steady. I will need to practice.

A long time. 15 months ago

I tried doing her pose, but tried to do a headstand instead.

I was up against a wall and got about 2/3 up and my head started thumping.
    It hurt so bad.

    I got a pillow and I did a headstand.
I stayed in the position for about five seconds and came down.

I don’t think I’ve done one since the fifth grade.
    No joke.

I want to do a headstand everyday when I wake up.
    Or most days.
    When I remember.

I just started Ashtange yoga, and I’ve been going about 3 times a week for 5 weeks. Right now, I just need to focus on building shoulder strength.

    success! 18 months ago

This weekend after not having practiced for quite a while; I was at an ashram for the weekend and everyone was practicing their headstand. This place wont let you be anywhere near a wall, so I was resigned to not doing it at all as I often go over backwards when I am doing it. But I thought well I’ll just go through the initial motions and pretend that I am going to do it.
And soon I was in headstand; a nice headstand entered into slowly and with control—the next day it was the same; and today I was able to do it again with no problem. So that’s another thing accomplished.
Now, if I can only get on with my dissertation…

I tried over and over and over and over. 19 months ago

(Thats a pic of my little brother)
    Anyway..
I do it on the wall about 10 times a day!
My little brother is 9 years old and he can do a headstand for 10-20 seconds!!
It feels scary to do it without the wall.
When I do it by the wall my feet never really touch the wall and im doing good but if I do it away from the wall I can’t do it and when I finally do do it I fall but I can save my self from falling on my back SOMETIMES
    .
    Can somebody help me?

I used to do gymnastics as a little kid, and I can still do rolls and headstands and cartwheels properly, though that’s about all. It’s rather fun.

The key to doing a headstand is practise against a wall. I did this for ages, and slowly edged myself further and further away from the wall. Also, you need to walk your feet in so that your body makes a triangle before you raise your leg up. This way, you are less likely to kick over! You’ll instead fall back down and not on your back. Good luck

Well just had a go at a headstand and kinda shakey but something going on there – guess the goal is not to do a headstand but not in huge rush here
