into flat visual art very much. I enjoy doing it, but it’s not something I want to cultivate.

...than an artist. But I have good visual aesthetic sense, and I enjoy drawing. Perhaps I enjoy it more because I don’t feel that it HAS to be good.
Once, I drew semi-regularly. I was living in a tiny apartment in college, and we had a tiny kitchen that doubled as our living/sitting room. It was totally bare white. One day, we decided to start adding color to it – we got out the oil pastels and started drawing. Pretty soon, it became almost a requirement – tons of people who did not think of themselves as “artists” contributed to our kitchen walls. It was what we did instead of watching TV.
I would like to get that feeling back again. I just drew a picture last night. I found it very relaxing to sit there playing with the colors and listening to music. I’d like to do this weekly, at least for awhile. Maybe I can improve my skills.
