okay so though it doesn’t seem quite “overseas and faraway” to most people (myself included since i won’t actualy be teaching english language), i’ve accepted a teaching position in England. I’ll be teaching 11-15 year olds English literature at a school outside of Birmingham.
so excited!

and i completely miss life in new york. am also still thinking about a faraway overseas teaching position for the year after!

So I’m going to be doing the teaching internship next spring when I study in France. English as a second language to an age group of my choice, making my own lesson plans and taking over classes, but overall just rocking it out with some people who think I’m pretty cool.
Talked to a girl/friend who did this last spring. Loved it.
learning more later in the year.

I was a teaching fellow at a univ. in Hong Kong for the 1998-1999 academic year. Edited papers submitted by profs. for the Centre for Applied Ethics whose native tongue was not English. And assisted in some Religion & Philosophy courses.

A guy I know from UConn is going to Spain to teach English and I am so in awe of him. Another friend from UConn is in the PeaceCorps teaching English in Albania. Again, so jealous. To teach overseas would truly be a lifechanging experience.

I’m currently doing my bachelor of education and when I’m done I’d really like to teach in Canada and Japan for at least a year each. I’m really looking forward to it, and I’m sure there are some super teacher exchange programs!

but umm Vietnam would be really kool. I would love to just volunteer with kids developmentally disabled from agent orange.
but even if i dont get to do THAT right off the bat…I WILL teach oversees cuz im doing peace corps out of college. HEH. excting. bouncing up and down.

I’m going to china to study chinese for a semester (February to July) and would like to teach English for a month or so before-hand. does anyone know a Chinese school who would be interested? I taught in the Henan province for one month this summer. a great experience. good luck to all!!
