It sooo much better than hotel/motels. I ALWAYS stay at one. Breakfast included is always nice and you get to hear about other strangers lives over coffee in a quirky huge home…. neat!

Stayed at the Curtain Call Guest House (in the Teddy Bear Room, no less!) and at Faviere Guest House, both in Stratford-upon-Avon. Had excellent service at both locations; highly recommended!

The Mainstay, Cape May NJ 22 months ago

Originally favoured by holiday makers from the American South, the Mainstay is now perhaps best known for its wide porches and afternoon tea (served on the porch of course). Modern plumbing and period furniture make it an ideal weekend or week-long destination.

    Very Relaxing! 23 months ago

My husband and I stayed at a Bed and Breakfast in Napa. I highly recommend it! It was very relaxing and the staff there made us feel very important. We are thinking of going to different ones down there twice a year for some R & R.

I've had only the most pleasant experiences at B&Bs... 23 months ago

...in Scotland, in California, in Maine, and here in Ontario.

Whatever they’ve lacked in amenities compared to hotels, they’ve more than made up for in charm, atmosphere, and comfort.

Perhaps my favourite part of the experience is the sense I’ve had in some B&Bs (especially the really small ones—the kind with just one guest room) of being treated virtually like one of the family.

I stayed in a b&b for the first time during my recent visit to Montreal. I wasn’t thrilled with the idea initially because it was a pain in the ass (and expensive) to deal with parking, there were 5 of us sharing a small bathroom, and it was a little bit more expensive than a cheap hotel would have been. Also, it was new, and I always feel awkward when I’m not sure what’s expected of me. After the first morning though, I enjoyed it so much. Ginette, our hostess was fun to talk to, and I appreciate that instead of letting me get away with speaking English, she forced me to use French. When I lived there before, I had convinced myself that my French was terrible and was too shy to try it… but talking with Ginette helped my confidence, and I used French during the rest of my visit. I understood nearly everything, and didn’t have trouble communicating what I needed either, so I’m not sure what I was being so dramatic about.

Our b&b was in the Plateau area of Montreal, about 2km from my old apartment. I love the personality of that area of Montreal, and I was happy that my friend Jessica, who had never been to the city before, was able to experience it too. We had a simple breakfast, which for me was perfect, and met a very cool young couple from BC. I’m normally a bit shy, but I felt very comfortable with them immediately. We ended up spending quite a lot of time at the breakfast table talking. I would absolutely do this again.
