I started reading them to my daughter when they first appeared, then she tore ahead of me, leaving me behind. Ever since I’ve been grasping for breath in the “Grim Grotto” (#11) and the mystery remains unsolved. So close to The End, but yet so far. I’ll catch up soon.

The ideas are brilliant and the writing is very innovative. I love it.
I love Sunny’s language – it blows me away and how clever Snicket is. Violet and Klaus are both so lovable. I don’t like the 13th novel too much…it just didn’t work out too well for me. It seemed too pat and unbelievable. That and the time (speeding up time) was too fast…just wasn’t written well enough to capture me. But it’s great, I like the series anyway.
I recommend middle schoolers reading it especially – it seems like a level that’s perfect for them. I’ve given them to my little cousin, who is only 6, turning 7, so it’ll be a while yet but I hope she enjoys them.
