nine and ten.

nine- Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows, I finally read it. Absolutely fabulous. I’m not a Harry Potter nerd, but the books are wonderful page turners, though I don’t like the movies much.
ten- The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera. OH MY GOD if you have not read Kundera- then you need to get on that right now. Right now. He is so fucking amazing. My favorite highschool teacher gave me “Life is Elsewhere” and ever since that book, I’ve been making it through all of his works. Wow. Read him. Go. Now.

You Remind Me of Me by Dan Chaon
So good. One of those books that connects us all together, in one big distorted web of crazy lives. Really worthwhile. And some of the passages were amazing, I would quote them here, but I’ve gotta run.

Prozac Nation: Young and Depressed in America by Elizabeth Wurtzel. This is both a worthwhile and frustrating read because she goes so deep in what it feels like to be depressed. I could relate to so many of her emotions, and also could look at her actions objectively and recognize just how frustrating it must’ve been / must be for my friends when they dealt / deal with my episodes. One of the critics claimed that it could either be a completely honest memoir, or just another “poor me” book. I think it was a little bit of both. Which makes sense, because anyone who has found themselves addicted to depression knows that though you are engrossed with self-hatred and frustration with life, you also somewhat need sympathy (even though perhaps you deny it at the time.) Some people claim that depressed people just want attention, which is probably true, but it is a problem in itself and can’t be looked upon as a trait that is easily changed. I truly believe that depression is like a drug, and only someone strong-willed and with proper surroundings/help can move on from it.
I am rambling. The book was good. Not quite a page turner though.
