A wise man once told me that bathing in the sea is, for most cultures, an unparalleled spiritual and physical cleansing. So one day, in Torremolinos, Spain, I overcame my fear of oceans and took a nice dip. I don’t know if I was physically cleaner, but I certainly felt like a new person.
Do it.
Twice now I’ve waded in as deep as I could roll my jeans high. I didn’t bring a bathing suit with me to Italy (for various reasons) and I haven’t bought one here, so wading’s the best I’ve been able to do. That’s ok though, both times were still wonderful – clear, cold water, not crowded, not dirty or polluted, calm waters, just wonderful in general. Maybe, eventually, I’ll actually swim instead of just wading.

The med is lovely!
Warm and clean and a general good place to be!
Swimming in Mediterranean sea makes me feel great. The water is clear, warm and really salty. It burns your eyes. The colors range from deep green to navy blue. You can see the fish swimming under you while you are in the water. Lake Tahoe (Reno, NV) reminded me Mediterranean sea.
