I hope you had a wonderful 30th birthday!!! Wow, I almost missed this. Only 7 more minutes until it’s midnight here in Arizona.

Welcome to the 30s. May it be such a fantastic decade for you!!!

I’m a little less than an hour late, sorry. But having had a milestone myself (40) recently, I hope 30 was wonderful for you. May this year bring new confidence, friendships, and adventures, and creativity. And may your thirties be twice as good as your twenties, and your forties four times as good as your thirties!

Having just transitioned to 40 last weekend, I can definitely understand how you had set your personal goal to accept turning 30. I had to chuckle that you stayed up until midnight to see what it felt like being 30. I didn’t admit that I was 40 until it was my actual birth time on my birth day. Here are my wishes for you for the coming year:

May you find the motivation and will power you need to exercise regularly, eat heathily and get enough rest, so that you become healthier all around. May you continue to make progress toward getting out of debt, so that you can stop obsessing about money. And may your internal clock reset itself so that you begin being on time instead of chronically late.

Happy birthday to you, emchik! I hope you have had an awesome birthday full of surprises and all you wished for!

This is a turning point…you can either rejoice in the fact that you have lived through 30 years of greatness, or curse the wrinkles and the aches and pains. I hope you choose the former!!! I hear life is awesome after 30! Life is just AWESOME in general!!!!

I know this is a time of transition in your life…trying to finish your PhD, with all the stress that must entail, and wondering what will come next. I’m going through a time of transition too, so I can empathize. And we are also similar in being organizationally-challenged at times. Here is my birthday wish for you, in the words of the immortal Mister Rogers:

Often when you think you’re at the end of something, you’re at the beginning of something else. I’ve felt that many times. My hope for all of us is that “the miles we go before we sleep” will be filled with all the feelings that come from deep caring…delight, sadness, joy, wisdom…and that in all the endings of our life, we will be able to see the new beginnings.

So, here’s to your new beginnings. I hope that if you continue on 43-things, I’ll get to know more about you, and we’ll continue to cheer each other on as we “rock on” together.
