Last night I attended this etiquette dinner put on by the UW Career Center. It was fun to learn all the rules, and actually things seemed quite straightforward. The most important rules I thought were to not put anything that you’ve picked up back on the linen and that you generally use your utensils from the outside in.
I also thought that our host/teacher made a good point that professional meals are to network and socialize, not to just eat food. So next time I’m at some kind of banquet industry meeting or whatnot I can act all snobbish with my highly civilized understanding of etiquette – er maybe I’ll just not seem odd.
