I give up, I made it to the level of guitar hero, but my musical prowess is non existant, my old roommate could play for hours on end, and do it every day, he’d come home from work and just start strumming away, me, no friggin way.

Confused the chords apparently, but all of them are getting better... 3 months ago

Strumming pattern eludes mein “All I Want Is You” so I will come back to that soon hopefully. I found a Don Williams song I really enjoy “Lay Down Beside Me” that has the chords G, C and D so I work with the strumming. I found chordie.com, go here to see what I’m currently following: http://www.chordie.com/chord.pere/www.roughstock.com/cowpie/songs/d/don-williams/lay-down-beside-me I also went to youtube.com to see videos of others doing it on guitar, however their patterns were different and I sing slower than they do as I want to sing as I play. I’ve done it though! Mixed up the chords but it still sounded pretty good to me and I’m getting the shifting between the chords quicker. Definitely a great feeling!

I have learned the G chord and the C chord however 3 months ago

D chord currently pisses my fingers off and they refuse to stretch to deal with it. I’m learning the chords so I can play “All I Want Is You” from the movie Juno. Once I have the chords down pat, I can work on strumming patterns. Fabulousness.

The guitar lies on the futon in my room currently reminding me I need to practice some more today. Fun times.

So far... 3 months ago

Have learnt…

Knocking on Heavens door (Bob Dylan)
Free Falling (Tom Petty)
Wicked Game (Chris Issak)
Come as you are (the intro anyway)
Live Forever (Oasis)

Have mastered my first barre chord and have fingers like stone but i love it!!

A fresh start 5 months ago

After giving up on the acoustic because of my ridiculously small hands… i made a little PINK purchase… things are coming along nicely and I don’t think i’ll ever be able to complete this as there is always more to learn with music.

I’m almost done my AMG2O1 course – I have a playing exam tomorrow. I have a study to play, along with 8 scales.

I believe I can officially play since I’ve learned tons of chords and can now play bar chords (hooray!). I’m familiar with the notes on the first five frets and I can fingerpick. :)

and this Christmas I randomly finally got it, haha….

SO my intent is to learn how to play my acoustic guitar and hopefully one day play my loved ones their favorite songs. =)

Right now I can play 3 chords very badly and slowly but it makes me really happy.

So I have been taking guitar lessons for about the last month. They are going smashingly! My fingers are no longer sore and I am actually playing some neat stuff! My instructor is awesome too, he understands how people learn best and makes the class very fun.

So.. lets see how it goes

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!
