I’ve tried to start some sort of shawls a couple of different times. I’ve done the Flower Basket Shawl from IK, Karabella pattern KK139, one of the shawls from Victorian Lace Today. I’m sure I can find some more. I frogged them all for one reason or another. Yesterday I started the Charlotte’s Web Shawl from the Koigu lady. I don’t know how I feel about it yet. More later…

I went to my third knitting meetup today. I haven’t been working on the shawl a lot lately, but I’m up to 48 rows completed, which is over 1/10 of the way there! It’s so nice to stretch it out and look at the pattern, and imagine what it’s going to be like when it’s finished and blocked.

Went to a knitting meetup today and continued working on the shawl. It’s going to be a 4’ x 6’ rectangular shawl, burgundy laceweight merino wool on size 6 needles, knit end-to-end with a narrow seed stitch border and a simple lace pattern in the middle. I designed and planned it out myself (I hate working from patterns). I’ve now finished 20 out of 432 rows. Wish me luck!

It took me forever, but this Forest Canopy was so worth it. It may end up as a gift to my grandma…right now, I’m just basking. I adore the Sea Silk, and this pattern was very easy but very pretty. See more info here: FFFO!

Not the most complicated lace shawl I could make, sure, but it’s lace!
Someday I’ll make a more complicated one, but for now? Too much on my plate!
I’ve picked out the pattern I want to knit . . . as soon as I finish “Wisp” I’m going to start it! Excited! It’s the Hanami Stole from here: http://pinklemontwist.blogspot.com/2005/02/pink-lemon-twist-patterns.html

I am almost through the original number of pattern repeats on my Forest Canopy! This doesn’t put me super-close to finishing, as I’m using smaller yarn and needles than called for, so I’ll be adding several repeats. But I’m still completely in love with it.
Additionally, while I haven’t made it to charts yet, I’m finally able to “read” each row to see what’s supposed to come next. Plus, I got into Ravelry and have been looking up patterns for my next several projects. Almost too much excitement for one week. :)

It’s slow, but it looks great! Sadly, I’m having continuing camera problems…so as soon as I get a new one, I’ll show off!
I am hooked on Sea Silk…have spent a few hundred dollars and now have five colorways in addition to what’s on the needles!

The Elfin Shawl, by Cherry Tree Hill! I found the pattern at a yarn store in Marietta, GA that was going out of business. :( Sad I didn’t know it was there until the day before they shut the doors…but patterns and yarn at 60% off is a good thing!

I needed a break from my dragon, so I decided to plunge in and try lace…only a dishcloth, but it’s still lace! The Traveling Vines Dishcloth from Smariek, to be exact. It’s not perfect but it actually looks like the sample on her blog!
Yay!
