I just watched a movie called “In Bruges”. It is set in a small town in Belgium called “Bruges”. Very funny movie and the town looked incredible. I must admit, the beer is a huge attraction…...

We have tickets, a place to stay and two side trips to Gent, Antwerp and Bruges. Chocolate and beer, here I come!
Ghent, a college city in the Flemmish part of Belguim, is superb. Everyone speaks perfect english, Limonada has super non-alcholic martinis (Hey, I’m 13!) with a fun atmosphere. And for those with a sweet tooth, there is a place with a chocolate bar! My father and I stayed in a beautiful hotwel that was a former monestary. Airfare is cheap if you fly to Amsterdam, Rotterdam, or Antwerp then drive. My cousin who lives there loves the club scene, but hey, I’m too young to tell you about that. ;)
Visiting is probably best, as there isn’t much to do there that you can’t do better somewhere else. But definately worth the visit.
I might be going to Belgium sometime next year. I have found distant family over there through a web site. This is the part of the “Coppesmette” family that never came to America. I am very excited. I will be in London to study for about 2 weeks.
I lived in Belgium for a year….it was one of the best things I did in my life. There is so much to see and do and it’s very easy to get to other countries from there since it’s in the center of western europe. I loved the pommes frites, going to the Grande Place, the one day during the year when people were not allowed to drive their cars and every one biked or walked throughout the city, the beautiful forests, the great food, the flower show in August, living next to the EU, going out at night….the list goes on and on…wish I could relive it!
how much I know about Belgium? heee… not much, just want my favourite baby blues. shall it be a Bel-cum-France visit ? hm, worth considering…
I’ve been to Belgium a couple of times. One of them was for Graspop festival in 2000, which was very cool. I got to see both Slayer and Iron Maiden live. I also go to stand for several hours in the pouring rain, meet rock stars, and see people eating mayonaise with their french fries. I’d definitely do it again, though my next time in Belgium would probably include more cultured stuff like castles, museums and gardens.
Okay, it was freezing cold and there was unpredictable weather and hard to get used to timetables, but it was beautiful.
