Done, but very gentle. Not supposed to push it apparently :( 2 years ago

Yet another trio of successful paddling about. You lot will all be glad when our African summer finally comes to an end :) 2 years ago
Added doing squats in the water to my normal routine this week in the hopes of helping me rehabilitate my hip. Took a couple of days but I can actually feel it. Sheesh, this is going to be a long haul. 2 years ago
Yes, even through all this Chrismas madness. It was a bit harder this week as I seem to have developed one of those irksome coughs that won’t go away. Swimming earlier in the afternoon has helped with this a bit. 2 years ago
I’m counting playing in the pool. Playing is exercise, right? :) 3 years ago
How I did it: persistence until my body and my mind were in no doubt about how good it made me feel

Went swimming today for 30 minutes. I didnt achieve my goal last week so must try harder this week. 4 years ago
After writing my entry this morning I decided to pack my swim suit and a towel and head towards the pool. On the way there I was making excuses not to go but I felt determined and focused on how i would feel after the swim. I swam for 30 minutes and felt great afterwards, so glad i made the effort. 4 years ago
there have been a couple of weeks since i started working on this goal when i’ve swum once or twice, but because i couldnt fit it in, not because i was avoiding it.
i’m happy that i enjoy something that is so good for me so much. normally i resist those good things mightily or do them to feel temporarily virtuous and then ditch them at the soonest opportunity.
these days the impulse to take myself to the pool when i have the time comes without effort or thought. 4 years ago
I aim to swim 3 times a week and the odd session in the gym. I want to feel fitter, have more energy, feel more positive within myself and lose a couple of pounds. The only thing stopping me is my motivation or lack of it. I will make up loads of excuses not to go and then feel guilty afterwards. So today I want to change this and get off my butt and go for a swim. 4 years ago
and my third swim of the week!
the pool i swim in is always empty except for me, and its heated to 30 degrees. i know for a fact that if i had to swim in cold water i would never do it.
its been easy to get there this week… easier still since i have a goal to work towards. it feels good to be out of the regressive, hibernatory avoidance that i spent the whole of december and january in. i’m feeling positive. 4 years ago
squeezed in between art classes… i was glad i had to cut it short, even though i had my music today.
because i had to have an afternoon nap. on the days that i swim i get so tired… and hungry too.
taking b vitamins in the hope that it’ll perk me up a bit. and maybe if i can just keep going my body will adjust 4 years ago
i used to swim at least 5 times a week.
i’m having a hard time with it now.
but i will get back into it!!! 4 years ago
checked the register that i sign when i swim, and my last visit to the pool was on the 11th dec, two months ago.
the maintenance man greeted me like a long lost friend
my waterproof mp3 was out of batteries, which i only discovered when i was in my costume standing at the side of the pool…. too late to slope off home.
so i did 60 lengths to my normal 100… and then sloped off home, feeling great. 4 years ago
i have a speedo waterproof MP3 player and i cant do without it. if i leave it at home by mistake, my enthusiasm quickly dwindles to nothing, sometimes i slope off home again…. 4 years ago
For 2008 I want to swim three times a week. This should help my mobility! 5 years ago
of not much swimming. but i just bought a new swimsuit and it should arrive tomorrow. so i’m hoping to get two good days in this week. 6 years ago
three times. felt great. only 1/2 hour of laps to start with. will probably stay there for one more week, then increase time. i wish i could take a master stroke class, but it is only offered in the daytime when i’m working :( 6 years ago
namely due to not being here, i have now finally gotten a decent schedule and will begin swimming TONIGHT! quite excited! 6 years ago
well, that sucks for me. i haven’t had time to sign up for the gym, and i’m leaving in a couple of days for geneva. so by the time i get back, and sign up, and whatnot, it will certainly be past 10 days. sigh… I’M A LOSER BABY!!! 6 years ago
because sometimes one just has to face reality. and the truth is i hate mornings. but i love swimming. so my job/school schedule isn’t perfect, but it never is and if i use that as an excuse i’ll be doing nothing forever.
so i re-arranged some things. i can get to the pool at least three times a week before it closes. i love swimming. 1 hour of laps, minimum.
THIS. GOAL. WILL. HAPPEN.
(it used to be the get up early morning exercise not going to happen goal)6 years ago
but no, i did not roll out of bed at 6am and get my ass moving in the park.
i did wake up, and even though i wasn’t tired, i was extremely sleepy and rolled right over. when i woke up an hour later to get ready for work i realized that our steam radiator heat kicked in over night and it was like an oven in my bedroom! hence the sleepiness.
i am not sure if this goal is realistic. all things considered because of my job/school schedule i would much rather work out first thing in the morning. but i hate mornings, especially early ones. i would never take a job that required me to be in early, why did i think i’d be able to get up for a workout?? how will i ever be able to do this? am i trying to make myself something that i am not? 6 years ago
do you exercise in the morning before work? well then do i have questions for you!! (especially if you exercise outdoors)
1. how do you mentally motivate yourself to go outdoors before sunrise? i don’t find that i’m tired waking up early, but it is dark out there! makes me just want to roll over and go back to sleep.
2. do you brush your teeth? i much prefer brushing my teeth after my shower (habit) but nothing is grosser than morning breath while jogging. any other suggestions?
3. do you eat something before you go out? maybe a shake or something small? 6 years ago
