    Life Motto 6 months ago

I love this goal – maybe it is kind of more like a motto than a goal. Either way, I think it’s a great way to avoid drowning in some useless, old stuff.

When it comes to giving something away there are many options like for example:
*Give to friends, family or co-workers
    *Give to charity
*Advertise online or in free classified ads in some newspaper

This is going to be fun :)

Spreads kindness but also attracts anger 2 years ago

I’ve started doing this and let me tell you, you cannot have a low self-esteem if you want to give things away. I just recently bought a new Macbook and decided I should give away my old Dell notebook. I didn’t know who to give it to so I put out and ad on Craigslist that I needed the karma and would give my laptop away to a needy high school student who was going to college. All they had to do was right an essay of their dreams and aspirations. Sounded nice, right? I have never received so much hate-mail! From kids, from their parents… I didn’t know what I did wrong. Here I am giving away a $400 laptop and people want to call me names! So my advice is to give your stuff away to someone you know or to an organization (school, community center) that will know who needs it. I did get some praise and very good essays from kids so I am grateful for that. But I can’t understand why people will be so mean. I guess I’ll never understand.

Great Idea! Tough to Implement! 2 years ago

What a great idea! With no more room in my house for anything else …..

it is such a great idea, that i simply cant get myself to do it. i think next time i get a new outfit im gonna try getting rid of one, its just gonna be so hard. im one of those people that are always like ‘well what if i wanna wear this in like a month’ then that time never comes and it sets in my closet for antoher year…its just a ‘what if’ situation

I guess i'm just too young 3 years ago

I’m on the upward slope of accumulating things in my life. some things are just hard to avoid getting, like a house, and i guess i just know i’ll be getting more stuff before i start getting rid of it.

Last fall, I cleaned out my closets and ended up giving away about 2/3 of my clothes. I want to be more mindful of when I obtain something new, that I give away something else. I still have way too much clothes that I do not wear very often.

The yin and the yang of this is great. I’ll start small and work my way up to applying it to everything I’ve been blessed with. Start with clothes, move to compliments, cheers, then maybe possessions. The possibilities are endless.

In an attempt to declutter, I’d like to try to get rid of something each time I get something new. This doesn’t apply to books or magazines or cds or dvds, but maybe clothes and shoes and stuff like that.

I don’t know if I can do this or not. But I love the goal. I’ll give it a try. Great idea.

It has been easy peasy 4 years ago

and helpful in my goal to simplify my life.

Less things means less clutter means more peace of mind.
