Ok, ok ,I know this is a big excuse but I have 3 children (ages 7, 5 and 3.5) and I am finding it near impossible to find time to get started on this goal. My oldest is in martial arts now (Taekwondo) and loves it. It is great to see her enjoying it so much but I have to admit to being just a bit jealous. Any suggestions on how to find time in this kind of environment would be awesome.

Okay, so I’ve taken different Martial Arts before including Muai Thai Kickboxing, Boxing, Zen_Karate, and Judo. I have recently resumed interest in participating in Martial Arts but won’t have the time unitl Fall 2007. Marital Arts definately enhances my life, but I am yet still undecided on what style I want to train in. This time around I am looking for more of the full contact fighting, so it will likely be either Boxing or a type of full contact Karate. Brazilian Ju-Jitsu is also an option at this time.
I am currently doing this. I have chosen Taekwondo. It is a Korean martial art. It a defensive martial art. It has been a great way to grow, challenge, disiplne myself. I am way more in shape then before.
I thought I would like martial arts a lot more than I did, so I took aikido this quarter. It was fun in the beginning, the teacher was awesome, and the techniques and history of it were interesting, but as the class progressed it just became more and more of a chore. What I disliked was the partner work - I didn’t feel like we were really learnig or perfecting the techniques because everyone was learning so no-one knew how to practice them properly - and the pace of the class, which was way too fast for people not excessively eager and willing to practice on their own. All in all, I wouldn’t say it’s not worth doing for everyone. But martial arts was not for me.
