cardio, weights, stretching.
Right now I’m back up to weekly workout with trainer plus (most weeks) one dance class. I have done a little weights at home a few times. I want to work up to two dance classes and more frequent and longer at-home weights.
I have figured out one motivation to do weights: I like to jump in the shower the second I get home from work, but when it’s very cold I need to warm up a little before it’s good to jump in the shower, but I don’t really want to do anything while I wait because I feel icky from work. But I could do weights; that will fill the time AND warm me up. 13 months ago
This week I did something to my knee. I have had problems with it in the past, but thought that physio had sorted it out. But on Monday it started to hurt again for no reason, and I was struggling to walk up and down stairs.
I only went to my pilates class this week because it is low impact – I didn’t want to damage my knee any further. It’s OK again now though, so back to normal this week. 15 months ago
I ended up having several evening commitments this week that clashed with my usual classes. in fact, I only managed 1 class ( Pilates) all week. I did do some walking, but not much, and I don’t feel as good as I do if I’ve done more exercise.
I suppose everyone’s allowed a bad week, right? 15 months ago
This week I:
went to a 50 minute FitTone class (cardio and toning)
went to a 50 minute Pilates class
went to a 50 minute Zumba class
I also did a fair bit of walking. 15 months ago
This week I :
- went to 3 fitness classes of 50 minutes each. 2 were cardio, one was toning.
- skipped pilates
- walked the dog a few times, but not every day
- didn't get my lunchtime walk
so there’s room for improvement. 15 months ago
“Do more exercise” is quite vague. Let’s face it – any exercise would be more!
This goal means that I will be meeting (and hopefully exceeding) the NHS activity guidelines for physical activity: 75 mins of vigorous CV exercise a week, plus muscle-strengthening exercises on 2 or more days.
My plan is to attend at least two 50 minute cardio exercise classes a week at the university fitness centre, as well as a pilates class on one day. I will also do 45 minutes of pilates at home one day per week.
On top of this I will walk the dog every day, and go for a 15 minute walk in my lunch break. 16 months ago
So, I was struggling to find inspiration for this goal, and then this came along: http://antieuclid.tumblr.com/post/23484528059/announcing-the-great-sherlock-fitness-challenge
I can combine fangirling with exercise?! Gonna give it a go! 19 months ago
