A bit fiddly, but I found it easy enough to get a great Google Maps site up and running by following this tutorial:
http://www.econym.demon.co.uk/googlemaps/
I got a key and tried a few things, so my curiosity is satisfied for now. I wouldn’t mind using it “for real”.
Well I’ve used it for the first time now, and I’m pretty happy with my results. It’s not special, and nothing advanced, but it fits the reason I made it, and that’s all I can hope for.
A prior knowledge of JavaScript, or some type of programming will be a great asset. I had two classes of C++ and I think that was more than enough of a background. If you don’t have anything, there are some good, helpful websites out there…

I tested it in IE and Firefox and it works… I was unable to check other browsers though… (IE was really annoying…)
I’m stupid – for evidence, check out my use of Google’s API: www.sean-johnson.com. Tracks where I’m at in the country any given week. Doesn’t really do anything.
Proud of me? Yeah, me either. But it’s a start…
