save up money in a savings account for worthwhile endeavors

I have a savings account 17 months ago

I’ve had an ISA for a while now but I’ve not been using it properly. I was putting £200 a month into it from my current acount, but every month when I was short on cash towards payday I’d end up emptying my ISA, so it never built up at all.

Well I’ve recently set up a new kind of ISA. This is one where my money is invested in stocks and shares for me by a group of experts, and it’s not one that I have instant access to. If I want the money from it I have to apply in writing and it takes 14 days which should stop me being tempted to use it.

So I’m now classing this goal as done. I haven’t saved up much yet but I have a standing order set up so my account gets £150 bigger every month!

now let's hope the money stays there 2 years ago

I got a job and have a nice amount of money saved up for a trip to Ireland next year…my last big indulgence before I have to worry about ‘grown up’ things like rent and bills and things.

Nothing For The House 3 years ago

I learned today that a great many of the things that were “mine” when I left California were put into storage for me.

I agreed to let her use many of my house items as long as she needed them. I had a much better established house at the time we got married than she did (I mean how many guys kitchens are so well equipped that they even have a ginger grater?).

I really didn’t think I would see any of that stuff again. So I guess I am not saving for cookware, flatware and china. Gotta think more about what I want…

Another Rave About ING 3 years ago

There are just so many opportunities before me. So many things that I will need to do, acquire, and achieve, in the near future that I need to plan accordingly.

The great thing about my INGdirect.com account is that I can split and create accounts on line. So if I want to put some money aside for a Sea Kayak, I can create an account called Sea Kayak; same thing for Weber Grill; hiking boots; whatever. It will make it a little more fun putting money away when I see these goals specifically written out on the account statements.

Worth your while 4 years ago

Last year, we were able to pay off several bills and go on a spontaneous vacation to Las Vegas for our anniversary. We’re not gamblers, but we had a blast! I was pregnant with our second child, so all the walking nearly killed me (I was exhausted and aching for weeks). Id love to go back and explore all that we didn’t get a chance to see!
