From the Beginning 1 month ago

I started reading this and read halfway through in a weekend. I love this book. Totally my style. So, I let my mom read it to see what it was about…she kept it until she was done. So now, I need to start over. I must finish this book because… I only read half and it’s STILL my favorite book of all time!

What a beautiful book... 20 months ago

Highly recommended. It struck a chord deep inside my soul and a few parts actually brought tears to my eyes, while many parts made me laugh out loud. I know it sounds cheesy, but its true. One of the best commentaries on the human comedy/tragedy. Moving…

And.... 23 months ago

I spent four lovely days on a very remote island enjoying One Hundred Years of Solitude and am happy to report that it was complete bliss from beginning to end.

planning on reading it while camping for the next week… have already read a few chapters and can’t wait to read more. I’ve had a copy for years, I don’t know why I never picked it up before.

no book has matched this 2 years ago

i’m not a fan of novels. i start to read a novel that looks promising and end up with another book bookmarked partway through that i tell myself i’ll finish one day. But the experience of reading One Hundred Years of Solitude was beyond satisfying. It permanently altered something in me knowing inside that I’ve been to that unforgettable place.

This will be next on my summer reading list after “The Rape of Nan King.”

Adding this to the summer reading list….

Incredible. 2 years ago

This book has some of the most beautiful imagery, ranging from amazingly beautiful, to absolute sadness, to the really horrible and grotesque. The hardest thing for me to get used to was Marquez continued use the same set of names for each of the male roles, and their individual idiosyncratic traits.

Not to give anything away but wikipedia the book AFTER your done reading it to gain some insight to its allegorical and political under tones.

This is one of my favorite pieces of literature. I hope you enjoy it
