jessieb4cnusb swam a mile and did some crunches today.. tomorrow jogging or lifting
Started off with a goal of jogging nonstop for 30 minutes and now that one is complete. Its amazing to me that this time last month I couldn’t run half a mile without huffing and puffing and now I’m up to almost 3 miles. I figure the next best thing is to move on jogging for an hour. I don’t want to move up too quickly because of stress on my knees, but I hope to have this accomplished by this time next month if not sooner. I’ll work up to it by jogging for 30 minutes, walking 2 minutes, jogging 5, walking 2 and repeating 5 more times to get me up to an hour. As time goes on I’ll add the 5 minutes to jogging and just eliminate the 2 minutes of walking until I am jogging for a solid hour. Goodluck everyone!

So now I can run a mile without stopping, and I tried jogging for 20 minutes last week. That went pretty well so I might as well try working up to an hour

Yesterday I jogged for 40 minutes without stopping! I never thought I’d get this far within a couple weeks. Last month the longest I would last was a lame 15 minutes.
I just add more time slowly, like today I want to jog for 45 minutes but if not than at least 40. Having the iPod with some upbeat music really helps too and it’s been sunny outside and I love running the trail!

20 mins elliptical
20 mins treadmill
20 mins other treadmill
Some of it was jogging, some of it was running, some of it was fast walking, some of it was warming up and cooling down. Although it wasn’t all jogging, it is a start.

After training for over two months i was finally able to run 60 minutes non-stop – embarrassingly I had to run past some marathon runners in Abingdon more than once (who were of course running faster than me) but I did it. I didn’t feel to fantastic afterwards, made myself eat something when i didn’t feel like it but I am most pleased.
I went fro a run yesterday and got a bad stitch after 10 minutes but i am going to try some new stitch cures/avoidance methods next run- and then next week when i go for 60 minutes again i will tick it off my list.
My 10 k is in two weeks but will take me about 1hr10 mins i think so as long as i don’t get a stitch i know i can do it.

I usually do an extra 5 minutes just to make up for any lagging I do when I’m about to give up. But today I was bang on one hour.
I’m gonna run 40 minutes tomorrow then on thursday I’ll do another hour.
Then I really will tick this off my list!
Bring it on x

I ran 2miles non stop yesterday which took almost 24 mins(slow I know), the longest i have ever run continuously outside and it was easier than my last run (which took so much will power – note to self, never have three days off!)
By the end of next week i will be running 30 mins continuously which is exciting, but still only half way towards my goal :-D

My face was so red after and my heart was pounding, But I felt so good after!
Im not sure If it was a one off though. So I think I’ll try this one more time before I tick it off my list for real.

I signed up for a 10k race this morning and I am excited but also nervous. I really want to be able to run the whole thing without stopping for walking breaks.
I am two weeks behind the schedule i am following so i am gonna put a few extra runs in the next few weeks and hope that does the job.
eeeeek!

So today was first 7min run/2min walk x3 So running for a total of 21 mins.
The first 7mins was easier but the last one was tough, I always like to finish with a bit of a sprint – always feels like I’m flying I love it.
Did have slight pain in my right shin though, but its minor compared to how i used to feel when I ran without training.
I love running now – it gives me something to aim for which is completely achievable if I put the hard work in.
I was wondering what I am going to do in the winter, I am definitely not going to run in the dark – its not safe where I live. A gym membership is expensive and the only machines i use are the elliptical (already have one of these at home) and the treadmill.SO i thought about investing in a cheap motorised treadmill. But obviously its still expensive. Maybe I should hold my horses. I have only been running for a month and its still August….
