phone a friend

Yep. I did it again. This time two different people in two days. Kept it short. It caused a little anxiety but it is getting a little easier. I really like my calls to be short.

Yesterday, R called me while I was at Darling 3’s tennis match. After two straight hours of tennis, Darling 3 was in a tie breaker. R calls me on my husband’s phone, with a boisterous ringtone. Great. Darling 3 sent me glares. I couldn’t blame her. And I had to keep trying to quietly explain to R why I couldn’t talk. Lesson learned. Phone goes on vibrate during tennis matches, and calls from fun, chatty friends will have to be ignored. By the way, minutes later, Darling 3 won her match.

my friend R. I did it while she was at work. That way, I knew we could only talk for a few minutes. It was delightful! We are having lunch together next Wednesday. Since I haven’t seen her in 3 years and have not talked to her in a year, we have a lot of catching-up to do!

I talked to my sister today, and it was fun. All kinds of newsie things to talk about. I also called some friends to pass on a message, and I was able to keep the calls brief and friendly.

Whew! I can do this.

I talked to an out of town friend on Wednesday. We hadn’t talked for quite some time. So that meant two hours of talk. E-mail is less tiring, but also slower and more selective in catching up. My friend is coming to town in November. Hopefully, I will see her then!

I talked to my sister for about an hour the other night. It was nice to get caught up. She’s my big sister and i really love and admire her. My life would probably be better if I called her more often. Maybe I’ll try about once a month…

I really dislike talking on the phone. I’m not sure the source of this aversion. A couple of friends have asked me to call them recently, and I just can’t bring myself to pick the phone up. E-mail, text, send a message… no problem. But talking on the phone has become increasingly tough for me.
