Kara and I are making one together. We got the same kinds of needles and yarn and are picking different patterns from the great afghan book as we go. Makes this goal seem so much more in reach. Did a lot of knitting over the holidays. And on the train. I’ve got two squares down, the first just k & p, the second I learned some cabling. Am starting the third which is a zig zag pattern of yarn overs.

thefabmadamem Haven't been here awhile, but been working on my goals.
Actually, I’m knitting a little lap throw, and it’s been in the closet for about a year. I would like to finish it up, and get it on my lap! Especially since winter will be coming up in a month or two—it would be nice to have the lap throw ready when the cold weather comes.
It’s a really lacy red and black thing, because I used big needles. So, I think I want to sew it to a backing of denim patchwork (made from old jeans). Nothing fancy, maybe just strips or blocks. I love the stars, but those stars always wind up lumpy and bumpy for beginners. Maybe just simple crazy quilting? I love doing that.
Wish me luck. Or maybe wish me the concentration I need to finish it up.

I have decided to start with a baby afgan for my step-sister who is now 5 months pregnant. Went for nice multi-colored yarn over fancy pattern to make it a little easier this first time around. I have the first square done and the second started. I hope to make six total, though four would be ok.

Last night I knitted ended up with the first three lines of the first square. After ripping out about eight lines first. But not bad.
I think I am going to give this first one to my Mom and Jeff in honor of Vivian. My mom gave me her basket o supplies a few months ago where I found the afgan book and the needles I am using.
