Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

Sarah Kay:(

It’s time to give up. I just saw on FB a quote from my fave author, Stephen King: “If you want to be an author, you have to read a lot and write a lot.” (close to that anyway) Just made me realize, I don’t do either of those things. I’m just not a writer anymore :(. Sucks though, I have this great idea and had a decent start. Maybe I can try again when the kids are older or out of the house. It already waited 15 years, whats another 15? 17 months ago

Sarah KayI haven't even thought about this

in a long time. I do that, make these goals and plans, and then lose interest. I’m going to take some time to think about it, look over what I have, but I may end up dropping this. 19 months ago

Sarah Kayadmittedly

I have not worked on this in a while. Been preoccupied with Xmas gifts. It’s ok… I’ll pick it up again after the holidays. 21 months ago

Sarah Kayslowly but surely...

I have been doing a little bit here and there. Every time I sit down to work with what I have I end up adding new chapters, lol.. 22 months ago

LauraSeabrookSlow but sure

I have the scripting done, but drawing it’s the thing now. Here’s a sample 23 months ago

Sarah Kay:)

Got some more character histories done. Of course they’ll need touching up later, but I impressed myself writing these two sisters, how one event brought them closer and changed both their lives by sending them in opposite directions. They’re not the main characters, but they are definitely the heroes of the story. 2 years ago

Sarah Kayyay!

I got another summary done and it turned out awesome! Well, I’m happy with it anyway. 2 years ago

Sarah KayUntitled

I’ve had this story in my head since I was 15 or 16, and it just recently occurred to me that it would be a great graphic novel. So I’ve written a summary, and summaries for the first few chapters. Now I need to start writing! And find an artist. Hopefully it’ll be done sometime next year. 2 years ago

Been a while since I wrote anything on this. I am currently drawing pages for a chapter in one graphic novel: REal Life Trips, and scripting the first part of the other graphic novel. So the writing part is still ongoing, but so is the drawing. 2 years ago

mouse_on_fireI've finally stuck with an idea

I’ve written a rough outline of my (short) story with dialogue and panel layout ideas. Thumbnails next! I hope I can finish early next year. 3 years ago
