On the 4th of July at our neighbourhood flag raising ceremony, I took a video of a baby raccoon that was being scolded by it’s mum for wandering too close to the crowd!

My cats are aware when they’re nearby which alerts me to their presence. I usually spot them in one of the oak trees or on our steps! Don’t get me started on the river otters that come up from Puget Sound to drink out of my bird bath in the middle of the night! Grrrrr!

We had raccoons on our 3 acre property which was in a very rural area.
One time our dog treed a raccoon in back of our house. My mother got out her 22 and shot it. She cooked it in beer and we had it for dinner one night. It was kind of tasty.
Another time my sisters and I were picking blackberries on a remote part of the property where the grass/weeds was higher than our waists. We heard something moving in the grass and it startled us. When we looked down we saw a raccoon! It scared us pretty good because it was so big and so close to us. We ran back to the house which I’m sure made the ‘coon happy too.
