Own a Golden Retriever

Got my rescue chiweenie  — 2 months ago

and she had six puppies on me. SO…after I keep one, I’ll have two dogs for quite awhile. And seeing how I’m probably moving to Europe or Japan in a couple of years, it’s not fair to get a big dog when they’ll have no space.

I have two dogs right now and I love them to death. I really want a golden retriever when I get older. They have always been my favorite breed of dog. They are especially cute when they are puppies. I’m excited to own one, one day.

Worth doing!

She came home with me about 2 weeks ago and she has been a blast. This is my third Golden and each one of them has definitely been worth it.

I have a golden retriever called Henry. He turned 10 in Dec 2007 but is still going strong. He loves playing with his brothers, Red my cocker spaniel and Boo Baloo my chihuahua.

Not worth it!

get ready to clean up dog hair on a daily basis for the next 17 years or so. GR’s are sweet dogs, but boy do they shed! They also tend to act like puppies for the first 5-7 years. If I had it to do over, I’d have a chosen a smaller dog that sheds much less.

We need to find a golden!  — 11 months ago

My 12 year old son has been praying for a dog and I have always added “when he is 18” (I was not a dog lover). Then he started adding “at the perfect time and the perfect place”. Yikes. That totally left it in God’s hands—and He has changed my heart! Now I am looking forward to getting a dog and we’d really like a golden. We’ve heard that we shouldn’t get any but certified healthy ones and they run between $1000-1200, but that will mean we never get one. Anyone have any suggestions?

My boyfriend has a golden retriever and I LOVE that dog. I mean I really do love my boyfriend (even though he won’t marry me) but that dog! Oh my – he is amazing! He gets so excited when he sees me, and he leans adgainst my legs to “get love” and will just stay there getting loved on for hours. He is the most beautiful dog ever.

between a lab and a golden.
very crazy and very lovable. she is very pretty too. and very smart too. it was really easy to teach her things. she is 7 months old right now and she knows how to sit, lay, shake, stay, and she is potty-trained. Oh yeah and we also taught her how to “get the kitty”. when we let her out to go to the bathroom, the cat usually runs outside so when the dog is done with business we tell her to “get the kitty” and she chases the cat back into the house. pretty kool. right now we are trying to get her to sallute. we think it will look pretty neat if our dog knows how to sallute..lol.
her and the cat dont get along too well though…=[. the cat was here at the house before the dog and she tryed to let the dog know that it was her house…yeah that didnt work too well cuzz now the dog chases her around the hosue and barks at her all the time. so the cat pretty much avoids her at all costs..
but anywayz getting a golden is definatly WORTH DOING!!!

Golden Retrievers are so smart! I loved mine. I had him for five years and unfortunately, he died. It was heartbreaking and I missed him so much. I have a Chocolate Lab now and he’s great! Labs are also smart (housebroken in about 1 week if you can believe that!) and has tons of personality. He is like a family member and really is so loving. There’s nothing like coming home from a long day and having a dog so happy to see you! I’m even thinking about getting another lab. If you put a lot of love, time, work into training and caring for your dog you’ll get even more in return.
