Well I am getting closer this goal.. I finally opened my sewing machine, which I had for about almost a year! I set it up last week and did a little practice sewing but nothing mnuch. I now need to learn to use it.
How I did it: First I was given a vintage and very cheap sewing machine by my boyfriend's mother -- she got it from a yard sale. With plenty of her help, I managed to get some basics down. Unfortunately, the machine was prone to messing up and finally died on me -- so I decided to buy one. It was costly, considering I rarely get money, but it was worth it. With a bit of help from the manual and the internet I figured out how to change threads and fix m… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I read a book and researched on the internet. I was mostly interested in hemming pants. I've successfully hemmed trousers and jeans......................................................................... Read how I did it…

I have a machine, but don’t know how to use it. A friend gave me a quick tutorial but I gave up on the process and quickly forgot all she taught me. My mom has offered to teach me each week. I’m going to take her up on that offer and learn to sew. With six kids, do I really have a choice?
so I learned at a very early age and used industrial level machines at the beginning. I love to sew and my machine is WONDERFUL!
I pulled out the instruction manual today and promised myself I will sit down for an hour to “play” with the machine. I also requested some books from my library on Singer sewing machine tips and tricks. Should be fun:)

My mother and grandmother both make beautiful blankets and quilts and have been pestering me for years and years about teaching me how to make them. Blankets were never my thing, but in the past few months, I’ve been learning how to hand-sew (teaching myself) by making various sock creatures. I’d really like to start branching out and trying new things. One of the next projects I’d like to start working on is making a softie doll, and I think this would be the perfect opportunity to sit down with my mother or grandmother and have them teach me to use a sewing machine. I can’t wait, I am so excited!!

My mom got me a sewing machine, which I have wanted for some time. Only bad part is I don’t know how to use it! It came with a DVD so I guess the first step is to watch it.. My friend knows how to use one, so hopefully she will be willing to help. I can’t wait to start!
I just need someone to SHOW me.
I have had like 15 people verbally explain it to me and for some reason.
It still eludes me.
I bought a sewing machine a year and a half ago with the idea of making my own cosplay costumes and some regular clothing, but I just haven’t had the space to work on it.
My favorite thing to do, though, when considering a new sewing project is to browse the $1 bin of fabrics and see if there’s anything good and what comes to mind. Usually I can find something really awesome =)
I would like to learn how to use a sewing machine to start a business out of my home while my husband is away.
A lot more straightforward than I thought it would be. I’m by no means a pro, but can set it up and get what I want done, done. So far have made a skirt and some undies. Toying with the idea of another skirt at the moment :)

“I was given a really old (but good) sewing machine. No manual. There's these little round black plastic disk things for different stiches. I don't know where to put them. I also don't know how to make the machine reverse..help please!”
